My chains are gone

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

Have you really ever just listened to this song, and really thought about what it means?

I cannot express how amazing the God is that we serve...how amazing it is that He would set us free from bondage, set us free from sin that entraps us...that He would rain down mercy on us, and He has unending love!

Psalm 103:12
"As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us."

Eger Weekend Outreach

(Callie Denny Photo's) 7 of us girls began out trek to Eger, Friday

These are such fun girls, and they bless me so much!

We got to Eger Friday night, went to the mall, and met up with the people from the church, grabbed a bite to eat, then we got to walk around a little before we went to our apartment.

We then were able to go our little apartment in the church that would be our home for the weekend.

Saturday morning we got up, and met up with some people from the church, and we drove to a village about 20 minutes from Eger. We came to a community center type thing(which I think someone said was an old theater of sorts) we set set up, and then we ended up having about 10 kids come, and a couple of adults.

We had such a fun time with the kids! We did a bible story, and a skit with them, about the paralytic that Jesus heals in Mark 2:1-12 We did a craft... and then it came time for me to get up in front of these kids, on a 12 string guitar, (which was missing a string, so it was actually 11 strings)) and attempt to play some songs
'This is the Day' 'Father Abraham' 'This little light of mine' and 'Hallelujah'
in Hungarian, with the help of Lynn.

I was terrified, and had to keep reminding myself these were just kids...but when you are singing in a complete different language, and very insecure about your pronunciation, it can be a little terrifying. But it ended up being really fun! I don't know if they understand me, but they didn't seem to care. I definitely want to practice more and get it some of them down.
We had them make pencil people, they drew faces and glued them on the pencils...then we told them about how with the eraser on a pencil, God can erase our sins.

We played some games outside afterward

After a few hours we headed back to Eger, and we got to walk around a bit. Eger is a beautiful! But I've really just come to the conclusion that all cities in Hungary are.

((These confession booths just line the wall))

^
We visited this Cathedral, which is the third biggest one in Hungary.

We met up with an English Club back at the church, and spent the rest of the day with them. A couple of the girls shared their testimony, we ate pizza, played some games, and just talked with them.

Later that night we cleaned up the church office, it was a mess!

((Callie Denny photo's))

We finished up Sunday morning, went to church, went to eat ((I feel like all we did was eat)) and came back!

Ok, well it is 15 minutes until curfew so that is all the detail I'm able to go into. My brain is overloaded as well, I have pretty much lived in the library this week, and that is where I see myself all this week.

Happy Woman's Day! and some other stuff.

Apparently there is a day here in Eastern Europe known as 'Woman's Day' the guys this morning handing us all out these cute little cards that they had signed with a little flower

We asked if they had a Man's day... they said yeah, but they don't really celebrate it here at the college because it mostly is about drinking. I never knew such days existed! So happy Woman's day!

We're having Speakers Week here, so no classes, but we have 3 sessions a day. Two in the morning, one at night. There are about 4 different guys that have come from the States to teach...it has been so good so far! The first guy yesterday talked mostly about our hearts, and allowing God full access to them. The next guy spoke from Genesis 2 and about God providing...

These are some things he said, some notes I took.

5 Things to note that God generously provides

1. Vs 9 ) He gives us a place to live- A beautiful place.

2. He gives us food and water. He gives us good food. Food and the ability to taste is a gift from God. There is no reason for us to enjoy food… God could have had us take a pill every day. But God gives you the ability to enjoy the food He has created, and when coupled with self-control it is a great thing. God has created us to enjoy and appreciate what He has made.

3. Vs 15)" God gives us work. It is important to note that work came before the fall, since the fall it has gotten harder and less rewarding, but work is good. Man was not made to sit around for long periods of time. Just soaking up the sun, or playing video games. He was created in the image of God to rule and to subdue things. Man was designed with the ability to improve things for the benefit of others and the glory of God. There is a huge problem with men today, they don’t want to work. They sit around and want to have a good time, men want to enjoy themselves, why the woman do all the work…and it is tearing up our families and societies. There are too few men who love God, and love to work, and are willing and able to provide for their families and serve God in the workplace. When and if you graduate((from here at the Bible college)) do not just sit around for a great ministry opportunity to come, find something to do. There is nothing wrong with going to work and you may find that the work place is the ministry God wants to give you. God raises up people, and sends them out to work, and on the job is the place they do the greatest ministry. Work itself was not cursed. It got harder after the fall, but it always been part of God’s design for men."<-- I really loved this, not trying to be all picking on guys or whatever...but it is SO true. He talked about how girls in his church couldn't find husbands because either they weren't godly, or they didn't want to work.

4. Vs 16-17) The warnings and boundaries God has given us are a gift.

5. Vs 18 God gives us help. It was God who noticed Adam needed help; he didn’t create the world and then creates a ‘comment box’ left on a tree. God took steps on His on in incentive to solve it. Adam did not bring this problem to God…God saw this problem is Adam’s life, He took it upon Himself to solve it. He knows what we need before we even ask for it, He isn’t trying to hide things from us, or keep things from us. Are you only willing to wait so long, and then whenever you don’t get it cross the boundary and go looking for it on your own"

Y=The evening session guy spoke on false prophets, and it made me think of you Mama.

I felt like you would enjoy it... : )

It was really good, and he touched a lot on how to see what a false prophet, or teacher is. One of the things that he spoke on that stuck out to me a lot was...

"Many will follow their destructive ways. Just because there is a large crowd, does not mean its good!! Many speakers today are able to draw very large crowds, by speaking…feel good messages. If we were to be discerning, we might notice that many teachings today can be like candy…cotton candy. When you give out cotton candy, especially when it’s free, a lot of people like to come to those things. But if you eat enough of it after a while you are going to get sick. A lot of Christians seem to eat a lot of candy in their lives."

My notes are kind of scattered, so I apologize, but it has been so good! Today was really good as well.

I had thought this week was going to be pretty laid back, but it has been really busy! I've had a lot to do.
Prayer request: A group of us ((6, and its all girls!)) are going on an outreach this weekend to a town here in Hungary, that is about an hour or two away...we're leaving Friday, and will get there and fellowship some with the Church, then Saturday we're joining up with them and will go to a nearby village and they'll have a adult study (that we'll mostly just sit in on) but then after we are putting on stuff for the kids...so I think the plan is to have a skit, crafts, and a lesson, and they asked me to play some songs on the guitar...yikes. So I have two days to learn some Hungarian kids worship songs...and I am by no means a master at the guitar...no means. But thankfully my good friend said he'd help me out. So just pray we'll be able to go and minister to these kids, and to be able to show them Jesus, and His love... that everything will come together well... ((and that I'll be able to learn these songs... : ) )) It's been a little overwhelming because I just found out about the song playing today...and I have some homework for my Nehemiah class that is time consuming... a lot of us going have a lot of homework... but it'll be good, just prayers that we can get it all done.

Goodness, so yeah. I feel like I write a book every time I post now...sorry!

I see my pillow over there saying come to me...so I am going to heed its beckoning so I can arise early in the morning time.

A couple things I’ve decided:
1. I want to be Hungarian, I really do. Does that make me sound un-American? I’m sorry. I love being American, I promise that I really do, but I’d like to be Hungarian to…can I be both? I actually would probably be content to just speak Hungarian. But really, I am proud to be an American, just want to clarify.

2. I am going to adopt like 10 kids…maybe not, but something like that.

My theme of the week and what will probably be my theme of this semester is surrender. The Lord is really working on me in that area, intensely, and it hurts, but it’s good. We like to make plans, and I have always made them. I wish I could describe the intensity of it. We talk about surrender a lot, I think, but it has become an intense reality here. See how many times I’ve used to word intense? Yeah its intense. We had talked in Nehemiah class one day about the things we hold onto with such a firm grip, and I know that is me. I see how many things I am holding on too, but you know what? My life is not my own. Coming to accept that has not been easy, and I am still working on it. This has all been a daily thing, like in Luke “take up your cross DAILY” On devotions Wednesday one of the pastor’s wife’s gave it, one thing she said was “reckon yourself dead” and it’s so true. Along with that, is what we talked about in Missions Class Thursday…counting the cost of being a missionary. She touched on a lot of stuff that I had thought about…but not REALLY thought about, but that is something to talk about another day.
So we visited the orphanage again Saturday, it was such a fun time. There were three girls that remembered me and came up and gave me a big hug. I wish I could bring them home with me.

Here are just a few pictures I took on a walk the other day.

I love the farms, it gives me a little bit of home.

I would drive this car.

Some friends.

I felt like I had a lot of other things to write about, but most of it just stays up swirling in my head, maybe it will make it out one day... : )
