Horse Shoeing...

Some horses are easy to shoe, some not. Well if it's one of my daddy's horses it's not.

My dad hates to shoe horses, just hates it. Well he asked me this afternoon to come hold his horse, Rett while he was shoeing... or shodding... whatever. So I was like ok. I already know this horse is a pain to shoe, last time I was watching my my daddy had all kinds of heck. He has to give him a shot of ace, which makes them sleepy and calms them down. And then try to go about putting shoe's on. This is not a a easy task with this horse, at all. He'll let daddy trim and rasp his feet. But whenever he goes to put the shoe on he is always trying to take his foot away from my dad, and won't stand still and all this crazy stuff. Well this doesn't make daddy very happy, not happy at all. He puts a saddle on him, then gets a leadrope, and ties his foot up. Well then the little dummy gets to trying to fall over, and both me and my dad are trying to jump out of the way. Well the goes totally balistic and daddy tells me to let go of his leadrope. Well he takes off into the corral hopping and almost falling down. He does finally just fall down, so my dad goes about putting the shoe on while he's down.... So maybe not the best thing, but hey it worked. He tried to get up several times. But he finally layed still.

My Dad: "He's not dying is he?" (watch him breath) Me: "Sure hope not."

Well then it's time to do the other foot so we get him up. Then my dad ties his other foot, and he falls down again. After all this he finally gets the shoe's on. Then we try and get him up.

Daddy: "Get up."... (nothing happens. Pull on the leadrope) Daddy: "Come on get up you stupid horse." Me: "C'mon now get up. You ain't dead, you dummy."

(I get my horse name calling from my daddy.) Well he finally rises. Then my dad has to go about finishing him up. Rasping and such. He didn't give my dad to much trouble during that though. During this whole proccess I was scared to death that he was going to kick my dad, paw him, or fall on him. He almost did fall on him once... crazy animal. We were glad he only needed his front feet done. My poor daddy... He wants to send me to horse shoeing school now, I was like yeah so I can shoe all your crazy horses for you, he just said yep.

Me: (on my computer) "This stupid computer is froze up!" Daddy: Well why don't you get a hair dryer to melt it out.... I don't know why it's froze up anyway. I could understand if it was froze during the winter but not during the summer."

Oh my daddy...

Just a typical Monday

I got up this morning and did the usual. Go out and run at about 6:15 or so.. well it was a little earlier then that today. It was very nice out this morning, I love being up to watch the sunrise. And a lot of the time you go out there and the coyotes get to yipping. There was a lot of them this morning, and they weren't far from me either. I heard a couple of them fightening. It's crazy how much they can sound like a dog... Anyways I go back to the house were everyone is still sleeping. Lazy bums, haha. I take a shower then study the Word. Then I have to get ready for work.

Of course all my horses were perfect and didn't give me any trouble at all.... yeah right. I get there say good morning to Joe, he's my bosses... well I don't know what you'd call him... a... yard man... maybe he does everything for Terry, maybe more like a slave ;) Then I go grab up my most favorite horse of all... ha! more like my least favorite. CJ (Chubbs Junior) Me and this horse have major issues. It was sad cause they took my favorite one from over there away... But that is just how it goes. So anyways I get CJ and bring him into the barn and go about brushing him and cleaning his feet. Well I was trying to pick up his feet but he wouldn't let me. When I would finally get one up he'd try to take it out of my hand. Then he was trying to reach around and bite me! He got a slap on the nose for that. Well then I got to saddle him. I grab the pad and turn around he he takes off! He heads straight for the other end of the arena to the round pen. And I'm hoping like crazy that there isn't a gate open somewhere. So I drop the pad and go after him. He goes into the round pen, trots around like a dummy then faces me and just lets me catch him. Which has me mumbling under my breath about stupid dummy horses.

We move on. I get up on him and start out at a walk in the barn. We trot, lope such as that. Then we head out. I have to stop first so I can get off and make my right stirrup longer then the other... why? becuase I'm not normal. I have the ride with with the right one longer because it gets to hurting from my knee down. I don't know why, it's just a strange thing with me. I get back on with me leg feeling much better now. I get into a trot. And there we are plodding along when all of a sudden CJ shys at something and jerks hard to the right. What was it you may ask? A snake? maybe a paper sack? oh no it was a stinkin' patch of dirt! See I ride in a alfalfa field, so there is... well... alfalfa. Well every now and then you'll be riding in all that alfala and you'll come upon a patch of dirt or something. And CJ decides that is a terrifying thing that is going to eat him. I ride this horse in this exact same field everytime I go over there. This isn't the first time he's done it several times. We'll be riding a long some days and he'll come upon a dirt patch, shy then we keep going and he shys again at another patch of dirt. He doesn't do this all the time mind you, just on some days. And it really isn't cool whenever you aren't expecting it. He's messed up my back doing that before and it really bugs me. Then after he gets over his fear of the dirt he decides to shy at a weed blowing in the wind... stupid horse.

After all that I ride two others. They weren't to bad. Choppo is just a lazy bum, and Cosmo can be a pain but they weren't awful. I seriously these horses are out to torture me. But when ya think about it, I would have a boring life if nothing ever happened, if the horses acted perfect... so it makes my life... interesting. Well I get done at about 11:30 then I get to come home. Eat some dinner, do some school. And such as that. So that has pretty much been my day so I'm going to end my post now.

Allsups

Has anyone ever noticed that all allsups smell the same? I mean seriously! they do. I was actually talking about this on the phone with someone.... They said that they hadn't noticed this.... hmmm.... ok so maybe I'm the only weird one that has noticed this, but hey like I said before I have never claimed to be normal. But I mean really. I find it to be the strangest thing. I've gone into a lot of Allsups, in several different states. And they smell the exact same! How weird is that, I mean really to have all these stores all over the country... well I don't know if they are all over the country or not... but they've been everywhere I've been. But to have them smell the same.... weird. Oh and their food taste the way the store smells... ok so that may not make sense, you'd just have to eat something from there to understand. Maybe they do it on purpose... they could use the same air freshner or something.... hmmmm..... Well I'm going to leave ya'll with this strange thought of mine.

Sadness, smashed finger, onions, and ink stains

So this morning was kind of hard for me, I was stressing about some stuff... like really stressing. But a great person made it better :) but I've still been sad... but I don't want to get into all that. Anyways so I couldn't think of what to cook for dinner (lunch) well I finally decided on enchiladas, well kind of enchiladas you just cook the hamburger meat, make green chile sauce, do the corn torrillas in oil, grate chesse, and the people just make them themselves. Well I had to go out to the barn to get a package of hamburger meat, we keep it out there in a big freezer. As I'm going out I go through the stupid door and well... smash my finger in the door... which results in me yelping in pain and start jumping up and down, and shaking my hand... (why do I do that it's not like it helps) and going "Dangitt, dangitt, dangitt." It really didn't feel very good, I had a red finger for most of the morning... stupid door....

After all that I get my hamburger meat thawed and cooking. Check laundry and such. I already had the house clean... then I dice some potatoes, and get them cooking in the oven. Then we start on the green chile sauce. I chop the chiles in the food processor. Then I saute the onions and garlic in olive oil... saute... that is kind of a funny word, saute. Kind of a fancy sounding word if you ask me.... hmmmm. Oh onions... stupid, stupid onions. I hate onions, I don't like them in food, I don't like them period. I cut into it start chopping them up. And then we get the eye burning, and watering and me sitting there mumbling "stupid onions... oh stupid onions." (wipe my eyes) "stupid, stupid onions." Then I have to step back walk around the kitchen wiping my burning, watering eyes. Stupid onions.... can we say bitter against onions? hmmm... yes.

Then we move on... I almost drop a fork on my poor little toes... hmm maybe I should start wearing shoes while I cook, to protect my little feet... ok big feet. Well I get everything cooked... and wait for everyone to show up back at the house to eat... I wait and wait... as my food is getting cold. But they finally show up. I start folding clothes right after we eat, and discover ink spots on one of my shirts! then another one... then one of my brothers, and a few other shirts... I was not very happy, and neither was my mom. We take them into the laundry room, and I scrub on them with rubbing achohol, and this stain remover stuff... for 3 stinkin hours. I get all the stains out of all the shirts, but my brothers brand new one. So I got to sit back in the laundry room and mumble about stupid stains. Grrrrr..... and I finish, with most of the stains out with sore arms. And I go to clean the kitchen, then fold laundry. Now I'm on here, posting :) and now I now I better go, this has been another long post. I need to go heat up supper...
